This Winter we’ll offer 4 training programs: IntroRun-5k, 10k, Half Marathon and Marathon Training Groups. Training will be planned to target a mid-April event/Bend Marathon series of events. Each training group has a head coach and mentors to guide your training. Each program will include: race distance specific training plan, bi-weekly meet-ups (one mid-week -day varies per group and Saturday @ 8am), FootZone logo item and other fun swag items!
FootZone will serve as your community home base and answer to all things running. Training programs offer individualized running pace groups, in a social and motivating group setting. Every FootZone training program begins with a kick-off meeting and concludes on a date that coincides with a particular goal race.
“I can’t rave enough about the 10k group I was part of. Loved the coach, the mentors, the structure, the group of people! Thank you for organizing these training groups!”
“Great coaches and mentors and the group atmosphere was lovely. I joked with them that there were lots of perks that weren't advertised, which were awesome, like tours of different trails for running, and visiting different coffee shops around town. It was even more of a 'New to Bend? Run with us to get the insider's scoop' kind of group.”
"Coach Gene is a running fanatic. He loves the sport, training data, people and making them better runners in an awesome team setting. I had so much fun with the Half Marathon group that I signed up for the Marathon group. I couldn't imagine running a marathon PR after a 12-year hiatus from the 26.2 distance BUT I DID – thanks to the team's support and Coach Gene's workouts!" – Becky Snead, 2021 Half Marathon and 2022 Marathon training group member
“Just want to say I loved the 1/2 marathon training group. It meant the world to me to have a place to come and run in a group, a positive experience and although we all had different goals we were united.”
"Gene was a great coach; he provided me with exactly what I needed to reach my marathon goal! Even through injury, he supported me and reached out. His marathon team is truly fantastic. I arrived in this group new to town, and I feel like I have made multiple, life-long friends during our long runs!" – Brett Kelso, FZ Marathon Training Group participant, Winter 2022.

COACH Anne French. I have been involved with the training groups since I started running a few years ago. I started running to get in shape for a martial arts tournament then joined the 10K group after actively avoiding running for most of my life and it has turned into a huge part of my life. I love the camaraderie of the groups both during active training groups and in between. Over the last several years, I've run distances from 5K to 60K and am looking forward to sharing my love of running with this group!
COACH Emily Abreu is a passionate running coach with experience assisting the Footzone 5k and 10k training groups and coaching with CORK since 2019. COACH Ashley Brush. I found my love for running in 2019 when battling depression. Running quickly became a huge part of my life and changed my life physically and mentally. I have enjoyed being a part of the running community in Bend, Oregon and here at FootZone. In the last few years I have done distances from 5k to 100 miles. I look forward to sharing my passion with running to this group!
COACH Dan Rhodes. I've been running for the majority of my life and have been enjoying getting out in all the seasons Bend has to offer since moving to central Oregon 7 years ago. I quickly joined the training programs at FootZone after arriving and have enjoyed making connections with so many great people throughout my seasons coaching and mentoring. I am looking forward to starting another year running in central Oregon with all my new and returning friends.
COACH Jayne Rodosevich. I have been involved with FootZone training groups over the last 10 years as either a trainee, mentor or as a 10K, Half Marathon and Marathon coach. These groups have solidified my love of running and competing in various distances from the 5K to 100K. Overall, I have witnessed the evolution of these groups and am looking forward to sharing a decade of experience.
